Restored by the Chevrolet Corvette Master Restorer Werner Myer. We know this is one of the most correct 1955 Chevrolet 3200 pick-ups available on the current market. It is part of a highly respected collection located in the suburbs of Detroit. This truck is no stranger to concourse events. It is often requested for its accurate representation by high line judges and historian automotive experts. It is a rare example of when truck design took a clear turn to modern lines and mechanical efficiency.The $48,500 price is a fraction of the restoration investment. A "No Expense Spared" restoration was focused on a correct professional refresh, but also was mechanically rebuilt for dependability and 60 mph driveability. It is authentic in every detail and was built for mechanical perfection. Once you see the level of detail applied by Werner Myer, you will know why he is respected to this level. Yes, rebuild on the engine and trans too. It starts every time and runs smooth, as a perfect vintage truck should. You will not find a nicer example. The 234 cubic inch inline 6-cylinder produces 123 hp and is driven through a highly desirable "Three On The Tree" transmission. What truly sends this collectable over the top is the classic Juniper Green exterior paint, complimented by an interior trimmed in Bombay Ivory and black dash. The final touch is the restored bed that retains a natural hardwood finish. These style points make this a rare classic and retain the integrity of Chevrolet's intention when it rolled of the 1955 production line.
Introduced in March of 1955, The Second Series was by design revolutionary. GM had a number of firsts on the '55 truck line beyond the new body and chassis redesign. Smooth, rounded sheet metal replaced the old pontoon-style fenders, and large, wrap-around windshield glass (called "Sweep-Sight") for a more contemporary look. Other important style points went to the egg-crate grille styling shared with '55 Chevy passenger cars, running boards concealed behind the cab doors, as well as a choice of small or expansive wrap-around rear glass.
Mechanically, the base six-cylinder engine was the same, but the electrical system received an upgrade from the 6-volt to a 12-volt system. Improved cranking power, brighter headlights and more efficient accessory support were immediately evident in the upgrade.
An improved ride came from a wider six-cross member frame, allowing longer front and rear leaf springs. Significant to the1955, was that is was the only year for a 7-foot long bed. This bed came with a 123" wheelbase vs. the previous 114" wheelbase that was standard on the half-ton 3100 Chevy Truck.
New buyer benefits from the previous owner investing in an expensive and proper truck restoration that has significant historical meaning and collectibility.
